Local News

Because I love it so much, let's just talk about local news coverage for a moment. I mean, really. Think of how ridiculous it is. Go on, think about it.

The lead story for tonight's 11 o'clock news was about how a Kennywood ride malfunctioned leaving riders hanging upside down--for about 10 minutes. Now, I'm sure that wasn't particularly comfortable, but it also wasn't headline news.

Not to mention the story immediately following that was about a body found buried in a backyard. Really people? Wtf?

It's the best entertainment on television. Hands down.

In other news, I forgot my camera today as I went biking with pops and hung out with Hayley and Julz. Which I am totally fine with because I'm obsessed with my beach pictures and you're getting more of them.

Oh, that's right. The body board I purchased had a penguin on it. Coincidence? I think not.

Go Pittsburgh!

mmmm, funnel cake

Beach, frisbee, shower, boardwalk, funnel cake, hot tub. Really, can it get any better?

Yes, it can. Because, in the hot tub, a nice lady said to me, "You know who you look like? A young Diane Lane."

Now, she is clearly both insane and wrong. But, whatever, I'll take it.

I'm beaming.

NASCAR

Me, riding a go-cart of sorts, at the NASCAR amusement park something or other. It was amazing walking around there to see how many people really like to reinforce stereotypes of themselves.

In other exciting news, after this we went to Starbucks where I said "Go Steelers" to a man behind me in line wearing a Steeler t-shirt (I've seen a lot of them down here). The two ladies in front of us then said to me, "Are you from Pittsburgh?" and went on to tell me that the two of them had graduated from Pitt.

Then, the wife of the Steeler t-shirted man grabbed me and we talked for about 10 minutes (as this was the least efficient Starbucks in history and we were waiting for our drinks that long) about how she and her husband were North Carolina born and raised, but have both been Steeler fans their whole lives. Their house is only Steerlers memorabilia. They long to take a trip up north to see a home game. They miss Three Rivers (even though they'd never been to it), and--and this really made my heart swell with Hometown pride--the only game they could get tickets to was a pre-season Panthers game. According to this lady, the game was sold out and easily 80-90% of those in attendance were Steeler fans. "Yeah," she said, "We went to the 'club' and there were only Steeler fans there too. A Panther fan walked up to it and turned back around. We let him come in though."

The Pittsburgh Steelers: the most popular team in the NFL.

My god I love Pittsburgh.

Livin' it up

Surf, sand, and wireless internet is all a girl needs.
Told you I was off to Carrabba's. Man, what a meal. Mmmmmmmm...love me some Rosa Maria Chicken.

I am beginning to realize that all it takes is me and three other like-aged people in a car with loud popular music playing to make me nostalgic. I really, really love my life.

Story behind a picture

Keep up with me in more photographic detail:

Hokay, so. Funny story. We took this picture in a store...thought we could sneak one in quick...but the flash went off and the woman behind the counter wasn't too happy about it. No problem, which is what I said when she told me not to take pictures. But, then she got all bitchy and said it a second time--for absolutely not reason. I had been really polite and totally agreeable before. Basically, we're still confused about why she wigged out. Anyway, Justin wasn't having it, and responded to her with a snide and short "Heard you the first time, thanks."

Well, that did it. Chaos insued resulting in her threatening to call security on us and telling Justin that "Your mother is bitch." (She was not a native English speaker.) You can actually see the lady in between me and Barbara's heads.

Let the good times roll.

Lust for Life

In Myrtle Beach now. Lucky for you our ocean front condo has wireless internet. Let the updates flow!

I must say, only the first day and I've already been body boarding, played euchre, eaten at Sonic (exciting for those Yankees who don't have Sonics about), and laughed till my sides hurt.

Here's to life.
